The John W. and Anna H. Hanes Foundation makes grants exclusively for such charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes as a majority of the individual trustees shall determine. The foundation’s focus is to improve the lives of the citizens of Winston-Salem, Forsyth County and North Carolina.

Grants will only be made to public charities based in North Carolina and will focus on those providing programs in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.
